FC Bayern is taking the next step towards digitalization – and is causing discussion among its own fans. From the coming season, access to the Allianz Arena will be completely switched to digital tickets, making traditional print tickets a thing of the past
In future, tickets for home matches can only be accessed via the official FC Bayern or Allianz Arena apps. After activation, the tickets are stored directly in the digital wallet within the app and can be conveniently scanned at the stadium entrance
One key difference: external solutions such as Apple Wallet or Google Wallet are no longer supported. The club has deliberately opted for a closed system within its own platforms
Above all, those responsible hope that this will result in greater security and fewer problems in the process. Issues such as damaged tickets, illegible printouts or duplicate downloads should be a thing of the past
However, it is not completely without flexibility: tickets may still be passed on – but only via regulated and controlled channels within the system
In this way, FC Bayern also wants to counteract the black market and uncontrolled resale

While the club clearly emphasizes the advantages, the response among fans is mixed, with the lack of a print option in particular causing criticism
One user on X sums up the concerns of many supporters: „Many older spectators in particular have a problem with this. Many older annual pass holders also print out their annual pass.“
Other fans mainly see practical risks: „I would be interested to know what happens if the app goes wrong, the battery runs out or there is no reception.“
At the same time, however, there are also voices advising calmness. Other clubs such as RB Leipzig have already introduced similar systems – with apparently positive experiences
One fan reports: „Even the older generation now has a cell phone. There are also clearing points. It runs pretty smoothly and is more secure than paper tickets.“
One thing is clear: FC Bayern is following a general trend in professional soccer that relies on digital solutions. Nevertheless, the changeover inevitably brings challenges – especially for older fans or spectators who are not tech-savvy
Whether the system proves its worth in practice will become clear with the start of the new season at the latest, but one thing is certain: attending matches at the Allianz Arena will feel a little different in future.
