Lazio and AC Milan have reached a full agreement for the transfer of Mario Gila, according to multiple reliable sources in the Italian media.

Mario Gila Was Destined to Leave Lazio This Summer

The Spanish defender’s exit was almost inevitable, as his contract with the Biancocelesti is set to expire next year, and he has no intention of negotiating a renewal. Luckily for the 25-year-old, a host of suitors were queuing up for his services after establishing himself as one of the finest centre-backs in Serie A.

How AC Milan Pipped Napoli & Atalanta for Gila

Napoli were the first to make a move, agreeing personal terms with the Gila’s entourage. However, they failed to find a club-to-club agreement. On the contrary, Atalanta received the green light from Claudio Lotito, who accepted their bid, but they committed a blunder by delaying talks with the player.

In the meantime, AC Milan had blown all competition out of the water by offering the Barcelona native a yearly net salary of €4-5 million. On Monday, the player’s agent, Alejandro Camano, landed in Rome to present the Rossoneri’s offer to Lazio. While the initial bid of €24 million plus €2-3 million was rejected, Milan swiftly returned with an improved offer, and have seemingly sealed the deal.

Gila All Set to Join Milan

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla confirmed Gila’s move to the San Siro outfit is now a done deal. Famous transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also gave it his trademark ‘Here we go’, insisting the transfer is now imminent.

Sky Sport Italia correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio reveals the estimated figures behind the operation. Lazio are guaranteed to receive €27-28 million, while the sum could rise to €30 million with add-ons, which is Lotito’s initial request.

Real Madrid Set to Receive a Profit From Gila’s Sale

Real Madrid are also bracing themselves for a significant financial boost thanks to a 50% sell-on fee. However, previous reports suggested that this percentage is calculated based on Lazio’s profit. Therefore, the €5 million that the Aquile paid to buy Gila from the Spanish giants back in 2022 will be deducted, so Los Blancos should collect around €11 million.
