Sebastiaan Bornauw is being considered for a return to FC Koln less than a year after joining Leeds United, Kicker reports.

The Belgian signed for €6million (£5.2m) last summer on a four-year deal as Daniel Farke strengthened his defence with £15m addition Jaka Bijol.

Fitness problems have limited him. His four Premier League starts owed to injuries elsewhere, while five appearances came as late stoppage-time cameos.

Interest emerged in January but was quickly dismissed while Leeds battled to stay up and Joe Rodon was injured. With the Whites now virtually safe, talk of a Bundesliga return has resurfaced.

Koln are planning a defensive reshuffle and see Bornauw as a candidate. They are six points clear with two games left, and the centre-back previously made 57 appearances and scored seven goals there between 2018 and 2021.

Any move depends largely on Leeds. He has three years left on his contract and the club do not need to sell, with an estimated £3.75m book value remaining after amortising roughly £5m of his fee.
