Jack Harrison looks set to return to Leeds United this summer, as things stand, with Fiorentina not currently minded to take up a permanent deal, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Harrison joined the Serie A side on loan in January after a sparse first half of the campaign at Elland Road. He started only once in the Premier League, a 1-0 defeat at Burnley, and made 10 substitute outings without a goal or assist.

Fiorentina moved quickly amid a shortage of wingers, agreeing a six-month loan that included a buy option thought to be around six million pounds. The winger has 13 appearances and seven starts in all competitions, with a single assist in a 2-2 draw against Torino.

Daniel Farke said he would have preferred Harrison to stay due to limited wing-back alternatives, but he respected the player’s wish to seek minutes after so little action.

Fiorentina remain in a relegation fight, two places and two points clear of Lecce with eight matches left. Survival would activate several permanent clauses and squeeze their budget, leaving a call to make on wide loanees whose options are not automatic.

Manor Solomon, also signed in January, has two goals in 11 outings and has outshone Harrison, so he could be the likelier keep if fitness concerns ease. Unless there is a sudden change of direction, Harrison is set to return to Leeds this summer, with two years left on his contract.
