Granit Xhaka, Brian Brobbey and Wilson Isidor sent Instagram messages to Sunderland fans after a superb comeback at Hill Dickinson Stadium that kept European hopes alive before Chelsea on the final day.

According to Sunderland Echo, the trio thanked supporters following the Merseyside win.

Régis Le Bris’ side trailed before Brian Brobbey levelled with a crisp finish. Enzo Le Fée put the Black Cats ahead, and Wilson Isidor sealed a 3-1 victory late on from Habib Diarra’s cross at the back post.

Brobbey posted: “Thank you to all the fans for the amazing support. Big win today, we keep pushing together.” Xhaka wrote: “BIG CHARACTER. BIG WIN. LET’S GOOOO,” and included clapping emojis and the hashtag “GX34”.

Isidor said: “A huge win to keep the dream alive... One last push next week.” He also tagged Diarra and added: “quelle passe merci mon frère,” which translates to: “What a pass, thank you my brother.”

Isidor’s post drew quick reactions from team-mates, with Lutsharel Geertruida replying “Willloooooo” and Luke O’Nien adding heart and clapping emojis. Sunderland now approach the final day with something still to play for, knowing victory over Chelsea could yet be enough for Europe if results elsewhere go their way.
