Grêmio have made a partial payment to Braithwaite amid a dispute of about R$ seven million as the new board focuses on clearing arrears before signing reinforcements.
GZH reports that the club paid R$ five million, leaving roughly R$ two million outstanding.
The sum relates to signing-on fees. With a balance still due, the Danish forward’s lawyers have issued another extrajudicial notice.
Inside the club, there is a view the player could show more understanding given efforts to settle legacy debts gradually. From the player’s side, the priority is to receive a firm date for the remaining payment.
The administration’s stance is to clear overdue sums before recruiting. Money from the sale of striker Alysson to Aston Villa in England was directed entirely to this and other obligations.
Braithwaite is under contract until December 2027. His deal was renewed in July 2025 amid strong form and interest from abroad, with Sevilla of Spain among those keen.
