Steven Gerrard has been linked with replacing Scott Parker at Burnley
Burnley are preparing for life back in the Championship after having their relegation from the Premier League confirmed.
A 1-0 loss to Manchester City last week made it official, but it has been quite obvious for some time that the Clarets are going down.
Scott Parker guided the Lancashire outfit to a top two finish in 2025, but has been unable to keep the club in the top flight.
This has led to speculation surrounding his future at Turf Moor, with a change in the dugout now on the cards ahead of the summer.
It has been reported that the 45-year-old is on the verge of departing Burnley, with a number of names being linked with potentially taking over.
Both Steven Gerrard and Craig Bellamy have been linked with the vacancy, but no decision has yet been made regarding Parker’s future.

According to Alan Nixon, Gerrard is open to a return to management and he would jump at the chance to take over at Burnley.
Chairman Alan Pace is believed to be interested in the former Aston Villa head coach, who has not worked in English football since his exit from Villa Park in October 2022.
The 45-year-old’s most recent managerial experience came in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq, where he oversaw 23 wins from 59 games in charge.
Gerrard departed the Middle East club in January 2025, and he is now reportedly ready to get back to his coaching career.
It’s understood that he has a strong chance of being chosen to replace Parker, should his exit be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Burnley still have four games remaining in the Premier League before they can turn their full attention to their return to the Championship.
Parker has a contract with the Clarets until June 2027, but relegation to the second tier has accelerated a potential exit from the club.
He has previously led Fulham and Bournemouth to promotion to the Premier League, but the Cottagers went straight back down and he was dismissed by the Cherries after just a few games into life in the top flight.
Gerrard was dismissed by Aston Villa in October 2022 with the team hovering just above the relegation zone, having earned nine points from their opening 11 fixtures.
Meanwhile, Bellamy is currently the Wales manager and his previous club experience includes being an assistant to Vincent Kompany at Burnley.

Gerrard achieved Rangers’ first SPL trophy in a decade when he was manager of the Scottish giants.
However, his time at Aston Villa proved disastrous, and he will now be looking to rebuild that reputation after years away from English football.
Burnley could be an ideal landing spot, with the step down to the Championship proving quite fruitful for former England teammate Frank Lampard, who led Coventry City to promotion this season.
It would make sense for him to be open to Burnley, particularly as he already lives in the north west and knows the area well, but he may not be the strongest replacement Pace could find for Parker.
