Cristian Chivu’s public calm on Wednesday night disguised a very different mood behind closed doors as the Inter Milan coach was “furious” after the narrow 2-1 win over Kairat Almaty, issuing a private dressing-room dressing down after the match.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Romanian tactician took full responsibility in his post-match interviews, telling the media that he should have motivated his team better.
He also admitted that the performance lacked control and composure.
However, in private, his tone shifted dramatically.
“After the scrappy 2-1 against the modest but spirited Kazakhs, coming just after another lucky 2-1 at Verona, Chivu was as angry as he’s ever been since taking charge,” reports Gazzetta.
“The attitude, the complacency, and the thinly veiled sense of superiority shown on Wednesday night didn’t sit well with him at all.”

Chivu’s intervention reportedly left a mark on the squad, with players taking note of the coach’s words during the following day’s training session.
“His grip on the group is total,” the paper adds. “The players listened, reflected, and understood the message: to get what they want out of this season, much more will be needed.”
The 44-year-old made it clear that Sunday’s clash against Lazio must mark a turning point.
Indeed, both in mentality and performance.
He has repeatedly emphasised intensity and focus since pre-season.
Furthermore, his staff view this match as a critical test of the team’s hunger.
Complacency and inconsistency have been recurring frustrations for Chivu this autumn, and his warning was unmistakable.
The expectation now is for a sharper, hungrier Inter: one that starts games with the aggression and precision he demands.
