Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel is edging closer to joining Inter Milan following a positive meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

Ivan Provedel Set to Leave Lazio

The 32-year-old has been the Aquile’s first-choice goalkeeper since making the move from Spezia in the summer of 2022. However, new Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso has reportedly identified Christos Mandas as his desired No.1 between the posts.

Lazio Plan to Pair Mandas With Motta

The Greek is expected to return to Formello this summer. Bournemouth are still hoping to keep him, but they’re unwilling to exercise the option to buy him for €18 million. Edoardo Motta is expected to act as Mandas’ understudy, making Provedel surplus to requirements.

In recent weeks, the Friulian goalkeeper surfaced as Inter’s ideal candidate to replace the departing Yann Sommer. Cristian Chivu has decided to promote Josep Martinez to the first-choice role, and he would like to pair him with an experienced goalkeeper.

Inter Milan & Provedel Have an Accord on Personal Terms

On Wednesday, Provedel’s agent, Gianni Rava, was spotted at Inter’s headquarters for a meeting with the club’s officials.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the two parties were able to find an agreement in principle, as Provedel and his representative accepted a pay cut to join the Serie A champions.

How Much Provedel Would Earn at Inter Milan

As the source explains, the Nerazzurri were keen to protect the squad hierarchy, insisting that Provedel cannot earn a higher salary than Martinez while acting as his backup. Therefore, the Italian goalkeeper is expected to pen a three-year contract that would earn him €1.5 million per year in addition to bonuses. His current salary at Lazio is circa €2 million.

Inter Must Find an Agreement with Lazio Over the Transfer Fee

The next step for Inter is finding an agreement with Lazio president Claudio Lotito, who has set his asking price at €4-5 million, even though Provedel’s contract with the Biancocelesti will expire next year. Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio will be hoping to drive the price down.
