Sport BILD report Werder Bremen are informed about TSG Hoffenheim’s decision to end their pursuit of central midfielder Jens Stage. The change of plan came a day after Wouter Burger's contract at Hoffenheim extended ahead of time yesterday.
The two clubs were negotiating a summer transfer for the player who scored 10 Bundesliga goals last term. However, Hoffenheim were unwilling to pay Bremen's €14 million asking price for the 29-year-old.
The Danish international has a contract until 2028 with Bremen. The player agreed with Hoffenheim on a four-year contract, but the clubs were far apart in their valuation of the transfer fee. The Green and White rejected two offers at the beginning of June, with the second still falling under €10 million.
Bremen are still looking to offload highly-sought players to balance their books, while Stage has already confirmed his dream of playing at bigger clubs. According to DeichStube, if there is interest from financially strong Premier League club, the future of the goal-scoring midfielder will change dramatically once again.
