Jorginho was sent off after the final whistle and criticised referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio as Flamengo lost 2-1 at São Paulo in their Brasileirão opener on Wednesday.
According to Globo.com, the midfielder saw red while appealing for a penalty for an Alan Franco challenge on Arrascaeta in the final passage of play.
Filipe Luís’s side had gone ahead through Gonzalo Plata, but São Paulo hit back to win with goals from Luciano and Danielzinho.
Jorginho said he had done nothing and called the officiating incredible for the wrong reasons. He argued that marginal fouls were ignored, the incident was not reviewed and the match was simply ended.
He claimed time was wasted throughout. He accepted they were leaving without three points and said they would carry on, adding that Brazilian football continues with this level of refereeing.
