Juventus announce appointment of new Director of Performance

Juventus have announced the appointment of Australian Darren Burgess as their new Director of Performance, after his work at Liverpool, Arsenal the NFL and NBA.
A statement confirmed the introduction of what is effectively a new role at the Serie A side.
He will work with all the technical areas and every age group of Juve, hoping to create a sense of consistency to their analysis and injury prevention.

Burgess has over 25 years of international experience in sport, focusing on injury prevention, nutrition, rehabilitation and recovery.
His previous roles include work at Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League, as well as consulting with clubs in the NFL and NBA.
“Darren’s appointment – he will begin working with Juventus once the necessary international paperwork has been completed – marks a significant step forward in Juve’s commitment to excellence in performance, innovation and the well-being of its athletes,” read a club statement.
Juventus represent far more than simply a Serie A club, as they also have the Juventus Next Gen side playing in Serie C, the Women’s team, numerous youth squads, a school and hotel.
They are all hosted by the same specially-built training campus at Continassa, on the outskirts of Turin.
