Leeds United were denied a first Premier League away win since September as Tammy Abraham struck on 89 minutes at Aston Villa. Anton Stach’s stunning 40-yard free-kick had looked the difference.
Leeds Live notes Stach and Ethan Ampadu as the standouts, each awarded 9 in the player ratings. Karl Darlow, Jayden Bogle, James Justin, Joe Rodon and Pascal Strujik were all given 8 after disciplined displays.
Early on, Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw a toe-poked effort blocked by the Villa goalkeeper. Darlow excelled before the interval, denying Amadou Onana and clawing the loose ball to safety in the wet.
Gabriel Gudmundsson departed at half-time for Jaka Bijol, who added muscle but slowed transitions. Ilia Gruev erred in his own box on 70 minutes, then Lukas Nmecha, on at 73, almost scored with his first touch. Calvert-Lewin missed inside the area on 76 minutes and soon after forced a save from a tight angle.
Villa pressed after the break and levelled late, Abraham kneeing in after Rodon was beaten in the air. Leeds’ back line had repelled numerous crosses before the breakthrough.
Bogle recovered from an early mix-up with Darlow to supply dangerous passes from high positions, while Justin was sturdy and later switched to left-back. Strujik settled after a few loose moments and cleared well under pressure.
Daniel Farke’s approach brought balance and organisation and earned an 8. His second change arrived on 73 minutes, a calculated risk that was not judged the reason Leeds failed to win.
