Leeds United manager Daniel Farke says there is a “long way to go” in the Premier League after his side conceded a late equaliser to Aston Villa.
Farke’s side led Champions League chasing Villa early on through Anton Stach’s stunning free kick in the 31st minute and were heading for a rare away win, only for Tammy Abraham to equalise for Unai Emery’s men in the 88th minute.
Leeds have not won away from home since beating Wolves 3-1 in September, drawing six and losing seven, but despite being frustrated not to see off the game, the German was delighted to secure yet another point, with Premier League survival etching ever closer.
“Fantastic away performance against a team in the title race,” Farke said. “If you concede so late, you are a bit disappointed but it’s a really good point and we deserved to win this point.
“It’s a very mature performance with good processes with the ball. They put pressure on us but we overcame this. Great save from [Emiliano] Martinez on [Lukas] Nmecha. Anyway, it’s football. We would’ve preferred all three points of course but I can’t complain.
“We were blessed to have him back today. We’ve missed him a lot over the last couple of weeks.
“I would’ve preferred two more points. There is a long way to go, we have to keep going with the foot on the gas.”
The draw sees Leeds remain in 15th, seven points clear of 18th placed West Ham.
