Leeds United continue their summer reset, two signings made and five departures, with a goalkeeper, attacking and defensive midfielders still the priorities. Talks for James Trafford are ongoing and Julian Brandt is weighing his options.
According to Leeds Live, Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic have arrived, while Karl Darlow, Ilan Meslier, Max Wober, Pascal Struijk and Isaac Schmidt have left. Further strengthening is expected.
Leeds have opened talks with Manchester City over Trafford. The goalkeeper is understood to favour Elland Road despite rival interest, which has encouraged Leeds, but there remains some way to go and negotiations continue. Trafford is the preferred option in goal.
Brandt, linked for weeks, is out of contract after leaving Borussia Dortmund and, at 30, is carefully considering his next move. His father visited Elland Road and the training ground last week and reported back, and while Leeds hope for progress in the coming days, the decision rests with the player. He has been keeping fit at former club Bayer Leverkusen.
Jack Harrison’s protracted exit is close to resolution, with Major League Soccer side New England Revolution set to sign the 29-year-old, taking him back to the US. After two years at Everton and a loan at Fiorentina last season, this would finally be a permanent departure.
Joe Gelhardt faces an anxious wait over his future. Leeds are open to his exit after a loan at Hull City, where he helped win promotion, but owner Acun Ilicali listed 11 targets without naming him. Largie Ramazani is also expected to leave, omitted from the US tour, with Valencia hopeful of a deal to take him back to Spain.
