Michael Oliver will referee Leeds United’s meeting with Brighton at Elland Road on Sunday, the Whites’ final Premier League home game of the season.

The Premier League have confirmed Oliver’s team, with Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring as assistants, Sam Allison as fourth official and Stuart Attwell on VAR at Stockley Park.

Leeds are already safe and will sign off at home after coming from behind to draw at Tottenham on Monday. Brighton sit seventh, two points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth, a position that could bring Champions League football this season.

Oliver has overseen three Leeds matches this season, the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in September, the 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture at the Amex in November, and February’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa.

Across his games, the FIFA official averages 22.81 fouls and 3.04 yellow cards per match, placing him among the top flight’s more lenient referees.

Attwell was the referee for Leeds’ 1-0 home loss to Sunderland in February, when Luke O’Nien grappled Pascal Struijk in the box but no penalty was given. VAR Paul Tierney checked the incident without recommending an on-field review, and a Premier League Key Match Incidents panel later ruled the decision incorrect, noting O’Nien was not looking at the ball, had his arms around Struijk’s neck and impeded his route to goal. Daniel Farke branded the decision crazy at the time.
