Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Florian Wirtz and Conor Bradley will miss Saturday’s clash against Nottingham Forest due to injury.

The Reds are looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Forest to Anfield, but have been dealt a double injury blow.

Slot confirmed that Wirtz and Bradley suffered muscle injuries while on international duty with Northern Ireland and Germany, respectively.

Both players have had their issues this season, but they’re still key parts of Slot’s team.

Wirtz could be back after Saturday’s clash against Forest, but Bradley is facing a longer spell on the sidelines, further complicating Liverpool’s issues at right-back.

While Liverpool have lost two key players to injuries, one has returned to the fold, with Alisson ready to mark his long awaited comeback against Forest.

The Brazilian has fully recovered from the injury woes that have kept him out since September’s Champions League meeting with Galatasaray.

He has trained without setbacks for two weeks, and unless there’s any unexpected issue during the final session, he should reclaim his place between the sticks on Saturday.

“Alisson trained last week and this week, so he will be able to play tomorrow if things work out well today again,” Slot said during his pre-match press conference.

“But we do have some issues after the international break, unfortunately. Conor Bradley and Florian Wirtz are unavailable to play. That’s far from ideal.”

Meanwhile, Alexander Isak is also in contention to face Forest. The Swedish striker hasn’t featured for Liverpool since the 5-1 Champions League victory against Eintracht Frankfurt last month.

Isak marked his comeback while on international duty, playing for almost an hour in the 4-1 defeat against Switzerland. There’s a decent chance he will get minutes against Forest.

“We were hoping for him to play a little bit more for the Swedish national team,” Slot added.

“Unfortunately, he was one yellow away from being suspended, so for obvious reasons they didn’t play him the second time.”
