Mariza rues Corinthians’ finishing, eyes Boca Juniors clash

Corinthians defeated Independiente Santa Fe-COL in a direct clash in the last round of the group stage of the Women's Libertadores. One of the highlights was Mariza, the team's defender, who spoke after the final whistle about the Brabas' qualification for the knockout stage.

“Very happy with the qualification, we knew it only depended on us, but unfortunately we are being a bit inefficient, we are struggling a bit at the end, we know we need to improve that. We are dominant during the matches but can't finish the game, we will work on that in the time we have to come back and do better in the quarterfinals.“, the defender began.

Even with the victory assured, Corinthians was dominant for most of the time and had the best goal chances. Players like Tamires and Vic Albuquerque missed opportunities in the second half that could have sealed the game, but ended up wasting them. Now, they face Boca Juniors in the quarterfinals.

“So, we are going to play against the home team, right? We know that the Libertadores is a very tricky tournament. We know it's going to be a very difficult game, so we have to take advantage of the time we have to rest, study their team well, and play a good game.“, Mariza added.

To advance, the club from Parque São Jorge will have to tip the balance against Boca Juniors, which currently stands at one win, one loss, and one draw.
