Marseille set to sign RB Leipzig duo of Arthur Vermeeren and Lutsharel Geertruida

Fabrizio Romano reports that two RB Leipzig professionals – Lutsharel Geertruida and Arthur Vermeeren – are both headed to Olympique de Marseille. Vermeeren is already en route to Marseille to complete a medical while talks have only just begun in the case of Geertruida. Neither player factors into the plans of their current Bundesliga club.

Vermeeren will join Les Minots on loan with an option to buy. Additionally, Marseille have agreed to take on the Belgian international’s full salary. Leipzig only just signed Vermeeren permanently and it came as quite the surprise to watch the 20-year-old fall out of favor so quickly at the German Red Bulls.

In the case of Geertruida, no medial has been scheduled yet. Romano nevertheless reports that talks are at an “advanced stage” and the Dutchman likes the idea of joining the Ligue 1 outfit.

Romano does not specify whether Geertruida – who has also been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest – might also be joining Les Olympiens on loan.
