Matt Law has been on the London is Blue podcast today speaking about the rumours that emerged this week that Chelsea would be interested in signing a defender this month.

Matt Law speaks on the London is Blue podcast.
“I think in the defence they would have to get someone out [before buying]. So do they find a move for a Tosin or someone, to accelerate a defender move from the summer? Because I was always told that their defender business for the summer was always in relation to one or two of them going,” the insider explained.
“I would have said a week or so ago that the message was always ‘all left until the summer’, but the tone has just changed very slightly, and I always think that however much they say they don’t want to do something in January, it tends to be that they suddenly find a little opportunity that they’re tempted by.”
We’re sure that Tosin would be number one choice to move on, but if someone made an offer for Benoit Badiashile that would have to be considered too. At the moment, no incoming or outgoing deal seems close, but as Law says, you can’t rule anything out with two weeks still left in the window.

Another player on the way out could be Tyrique George, who was minutes from a £22m move to Fulham in the summer, only for the deal to collapse. Right now, there don’t seem to be any buyers.
New Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has been speaking in glowing terms about a defender already at the club. We all want to see more of Josh Acheampong, and it sounds like we will.
