The UEFA Executive Committee will discuss today whether to allow Milan and Como to play a Serie A game in Perth, Australia, but Gazzetta suggests that the outcome is ‘hard to predict’ and could see ‘tension grow.’
Milan and Como are awaiting UEFA’s decision on whether their Serie A clash can be staged in Australia in February 2026, while the Stadio Meazza in Milan is occupied for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.
The UEFA Executive Committee will hold their next meeting in Tirana, Albania, on Thursday, 11 September 2025, from 14:00 to 17:00 CET. According to Gazzetta, Milan and Como’s request to play their February Serie A game in Australia will be discussed during the meeting.

The outcome is hard to predict, despite the green light from the Italian and Australian FAs.
The UEFA Executive Committee is made up of 19 members, plus President Aleksander Ceferin.
The report claims that FIGC President Gravina, one of the members of the Committee, will speak in favour of authorising the match as it would represent an opportunity for Serie A to gain visibility and secure significant revenue.
Gazzetta reports that there are two factions within UEFA, but unfortunately for Milan and Como, the one against is gaining strength.
Both Ceferin and European Commissioner Glenn Micallef had already voiced concerns about the prospect of a European competition match being played outside of the continent.

UEFA also got alarmed by a similar request from Villarreal and Barcelona to play their La Liga meeting in Miami on December 21-22.
UEFA fears that in the future, there will be pressure to play even one entire league round outside the continent.
Therefore, predicting an outcome is no easy feat, and even if the UEFA Committee could also decide to postpone the decision to a later date, there’s also a risk that Milan and Como’s request will be denied, raising tension with UEFA.
