Milan striker Santiago Giménez scored a late goal for Mexico in a 2-2 friendly draw against South Korea: ‘All goals have the same taste.’

Milan star Giménez found the net in Mexico’s 2-2 draw against South Korea on Tuesday, allowing his side to secure a 2-2 stalemate in a friendly encounter.

The Mexico international spoke to ESPN Mexico after the match.

What Giménez said after goal for Mexico

“All goals have the same taste, whether in friendlies or official matches. As strikers, we enjoy it a lot when we score, because we help the team, and this is a team sport,” the Milan striker said via TMW.

“First of all, I want to congratulate the group for never giving up. South Korea is a World Cup-level opponent. These are very difficult matches, and it’s great that we didn’t lose against them.”

Giménez still looking for first Milan goal in 2025-26

Giménez started in Milan’s opening Serie A matches against Cremonese and Lecce but is still looking for his first goal for the Rossoneri in 2025-26.

A former Feyenoord star, Giménez joined Milan in the 2025 winter transfer window, but didn’t seem entirely part of the project when Massimiliano Allegri was appointed as the new head coach over the summer.

Milan openly said they were open to swapping Giménez with Roma’s Artem Dovbyk at the end of August, but the Mexican striker pushed to remain at San Siro.
