NEC Nijmegen could land a sizeable windfall if Sunderland sell Robin Roefs this summer, Voetbal 4 U reports, with a sell-on clause said to be in last year’s deal.
Roefs moved from NEC for around £9million before add-ons. After an impressive first Premier League season, the 23-year-old is being linked with a move worth about £60million.
The report says NEC secured roughly 10 per cent of any profit on a future sale. On those figures, a £60million fee would mean profit near £51million, sending close to £5million to NEC.
NEC are also expected to receive a solidarity payment, reported to be more than £2.5million if a deal lands at that level. Taken with the original fee, the Dutch club could ultimately earn in excess of £16million from Roefs’ transfer and any resale.
Roefs’ emergence has drawn interest from several clubs ahead of the summer window. Sunderland remain in a strong contractual position following his arrival last year.
