Neymar returns to Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad and shares joyous reaction

Neymar has been recalled to Brazil’s 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

According to L'Équipe, the announcement arrived on Monday evening and confirms the forward will be at the tournament from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The 34-year-old last played for the Seleção on 18 October 2023, a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay. A video posted on Instagram by his best friend Cris Guedes showed Neymar smiling, embracing him, then celebrating to camera.

His return had seemed unlikely a few months ago. Injuries early in the season and knee surgery in December stalled his progress, but he gradually regained rhythm with Santos.

Featuring in 10 of Santos’s last 13 matches, he did enough to persuade Ancelotti to hand him another chance.
