Chelsea fought hard to secure a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

Moises Caicedo was shown a straight red card, his first in the league, making the encounter more daunting for Chelsea.

Despite the setback, the Blues took the lead through Trevoh Chalobah early in the second half before Mikel Merino restored parity for the Gunners.

Arsenal cranked up the pressure late on, but Chelsea defended brilliantly to secure a draw.

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin praised Chalobah and Wesley Fofana for their display in the fixture.

Speaking on commentary duties on the BBC, said: “Absolutely they are [Chalobah and Fofana starters at the moment]. Chalobah has been very, very good but both of them, when they get the ball and come out with the ball at the feet they both look comfortable.

“They’re very, very quick and one of the big things for modern footballers is you’ve got to be very fast and those two are.”

Chalobah and Fofana were brilliant versus Arsenal

With Chelsea down to 10 men, Chalobah and Fofana stepped up massively, alongside both full-backs, Marc Cucurella and Malo Gusto.

Chalobah won the only tackle he attempted, made six clearances, and four recoveries. He also won one of two ground duels he contested and came out on top in four of his five aerial duels.

Fofana was also solid, winning his only attempted tackle, making 11 recoveries, and winning six out of seven aerial duels. However, he lost two of his three ground duels.

He has vowed to make up for lost time , having struggled with injuries since joining Chelsea and his performance against Arsenal underscores his determination to do that.

Manager Enzo Maresca will hope Chalobah and Fofana stay fit, with Chelsea aiming to compete on all fronts this term.
