Roma ‘to sign’ Donyell Malen for €25m after loan from Aston Villa

Donyell Malen’s Aston Villa stint looks set to end, with Voetbal International reporting that Roma have exercised a €25 million option to buy and that it is almost certain he will stay with the Serie A club.

The forward joined Villa from Borussia Dortmund in January last year and enjoyed a decent spell under Unai Emery.

He had scored seven times this season before departing a year on from his arrival. The loan to Roma included a purchase clause.

In Rome he has impressed, scoring 12 goals across Serie A and the Europa League. His performances have helped the club regain a Champions League place.

A permanent move this summer would swiftly close the chapter on the 27-year-old Dutchman’s brief time at Villa Park.
