The former Marseille and France midfielder Samir Nasri spent about 10 hours in police custody on Thursday during a judicial inquiry into the importation of narcotics, criminal association and the laundering of drug importation by an organised gang. He was released later that evening without charge for now.
According to Le Parisien, investigators from the BRIF, the financial investigations unit of the Paris judicial police, interviewed him. He now works as a Canal+ pundit.
He was reportedly questioned about his links to Karim Berrebouh, nicknamed “Marcassin”, a Marseille drug trafficker jailed since 2021, and about his past role as co-owner of the XS nightclub in Ivry-sur-Seine, Val-de-Marne.
Nasri has known the Berrebouh family since childhood in Marseille and is close to elder brother Hakim. During the 2020 lockdown, Hakim is said to have proposed he invest in the nightclub.
In the years that followed, Hakim Berrebouh’s wife reportedly came to XS several times to collect large sums of cash, movements that attracted the attention of BRIF investigators.
