Samir Nasri spent around 10 hours in police custody on Thursday 9 July as part of a judicial investigation into the importation of narcotics, criminal conspiracy and organised money laundering. According to Le Parisien, the 39-year-old former France international was detained in Paris.
He was questioned at BRIF, the Paris judicial police’s financial investigations unit. The ex-OM and Arsenal midfielder now works as a pundit for Canal+.
The case names Karim Berrebouh, a Marseille drug trafficker jailed since 2021, and Olivier Sabbah, presented as a pillar of Berrebouh’s laundering network.
Nasri is understood to be concerned with the organised-laundering strand through his past role as manager of XS, a nightclub in Ivry-sur-Seine, having become a shareholder around 2016. Thursday’s custody followed an initial measure in late June in Marseille.
He was released in the evening without judicial proceedings being opened against him. He could still be summoned for a potential indictment.
Separately, Les Échos reported in April that although Nasri is a tax resident in Dubai, where taxes are minimal, France’s tax authorities suspect he lives in Paris, citing more than 200 Deliveroo orders placed in the capital.
