São Paulo have opened negotiations with Al-Najma to sign centre-back Samir, a Flamengo academy graduate, according to Coluna Do Fla.
The 31-year-old is currently with the Saudi club and is expected to be allowed to leave, as he is among their highest earners.
He is also being monitored by clubs in Brazil, Türkiye and China. Samir is prioritising a three-year contract and is assessing the offers on the table.
Samir emerged at Audax-RJ in 2011, then joined Flamengo’s youth set-up later that year. He spent three seasons in the Rubro-Negro’s junior ranks.
Promoted to Flamengo’s first team, he played 86 matches across 2013 and 2014, scoring three goals. He won the Copa do Brasil in 2013, the Campeonato Carioca in 2014 and the Taça Guanabara in 2014.
