Senny Mayulu scored in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 defeat of Chelsea on Wednesday, yet his contract stalemate endures.

Brought on at half-time for Joao Neves in the Champions League last 16, the 19-year-old swept in a first-time left-footer, his fifth of the season, three in Ligue 1 and two in Europe. According to L'Équipe, he is contracted until 2027.

Leaks in mid-February claimed he wanted parity with Warren Zaïre-Emery’s estimated 950,000 euros gross per month and branded him ungrateful over supposed demands. His camp flatly denies this.

Three five-year proposals, similar in value but with different variables, have been made without progress or a rupture. Those around him felt he was hung out to dry, leaving him saddened and puzzled by the timing and substance.

Publicly, Mayulu has signalled he wants to stay under Luis Enrique. From his side there was no need for pressure, and the stalemate appears to have prompted the club to try to force the issue.

For now, the mood has eased, though no restart is scheduled. A positive outcome is possible, but this episode could still shape his thinking.

Clubs have enquired in recent weeks, which he is parking. After a month out with a calf injury, the France Under-21 international says he is focused on defending Ligue 1 and a Liverpool quarter-final, with Fabian Ruiz and Bradley Barcola sidelined, so rotation chances remain.
