West Brom owner Shilen Patel has appointed James Morrison as permanent head coach and insisted the club did not survive by accident after he led them to Championship safety.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the former midfielder stepped in as interim for the second time this season, and third spell overall, after Eric Ramsay’s nine-game winless run.
Morrison halted the slide with a 10-match unbeaten run that secured Albion’s status. Patel, who took control of the club in 2024, has faced heavy criticism over managerial appointments, but elevating Morrison on an interim basis steadied results.
Patel thanked Morrison and his staff for uniting the club during a difficult period and said the appointment was fully deserved, crediting his growing leadership.
He added that Morrison embodies what the club stands for, reflects the standards expected by supporters, and has the qualities to take Albion forward. Patel said he is excited about the future with Morrison leading the players.
