West Brom have received a timely boost for Saturday’s final-day trip to Sheffield Wednesday, with key midfielder Svante Inglesson ruled out.

“No, he will not be available. But he will be fit in the next two or three weeks so he can do all what he has to do in the pre-season.” The Owls’ manager Henrik Pedersen told the Sheffield Star.

The 27-year-old Swede, widely viewed as one of Wednesday’s standout performers, has already played his last game of the season. He shared the club’s player of the year award with Liam Palmer, who received an outstanding achievement award after passing 500 appearances.

“Svante and Liam have been two fantastic humans in our group through the whole season. They have been two players who really have made standards for what is okay, what is not okay, and also when things are difficult.”

A sell-out crowd is expected at Hillsborough, with Albion supporters in party mood after securing survival. James Morrison’s side are aiming to extend their unbeaten run to 11.

Wednesday have spent much of the season on negative points after going into administration and are ahead of relegation to League One.
