Chelsea have reportedly got someway down the road with trying to sign a player who wants to join them.

That is according to one journalist today at least, who has been putting some information out on it this week via a Podcast.

EXCLUSIVE! Cole Palmer now has NEW injury and will be out for a set time!

Chelsea fans are not convinced at all with their goalkeeper options, and after a terrible performance by Filip Jorgensen in the nets for Chelsea on Tuesday night against Lincoln City, those thoughts have just been further amplified by fans and pundits.

Enzo Maresca attempted to make a tired excuse for Jorgensen’s performance, naturally protecting his player. But those excuses wont be bought be anyone really.

Robert Sanchez also made a horrendous error in the defeat to Manchester United on Saturday night and we all know that many just don’t think he’s good enough to be Chelsea number one.

But what do the club think?

Time will tell, but apparently they are someway down the road in signing Mike Maignan from AC Milan.

As cited by SPTC, Journalist Graeme Bailey said:

“As a club, [Manchester United] have decided a new number one is needed in 2026 – no surprise, and it appears that they aim to have the new player competing with Senne Lammens long-term,” Bailey told United in Focus.

“In terms of who they are looking at, I can confirm as a club they do like Mike Maignan – but he is someway down the road with Chelsea. They tried to sign him in the summer, but Max Allegri did not want to lose him; now his talks over a new deal are not going well.

“I am told that as it stands, he wants to join Chelsea and is likely to be how that one maps out, but Man United are giving themselves the chance to assess the situation.”
