Sevilla are set for a significant financial boost as Sow closes in on a move to Genoa.
ABC de Sevilla reports that the Switzerland international did not train as he prepares to fly, with the deal at the value of his four million euro release clause. He heads to Serie A after a notable World Cup this summer.
The low clause traces back to last summer, when Sow took a pay cut and extended to 2029 to help the wage cap, and the club in return set an accessible buyout. His market value is around 7.5 million, per Transfermarkt.
Sevilla will receive four million from the sale and shed roughly four million in salary across 2026-27 and 2027-28. The relief is substantial, even if it means losing a cornerstone of the side.
Sow’s impact last season was decisive, contributing five goals and four assists to help avoid relegation. Odysseas Vlachodimos and Akor Adams also stood out, with Adams already sold to Venezia FC.
Attention now turns to a replacement. Giorgi Kochorashvili of Sporting CP, formerly of Levante UD, is the leading candidate, and the Georgia international is prioritising Sevilla over Deportivo La Coruña and Getafe. Further updates are expected soon.
