According to Nosso Palestra, the STJD has reduced Alexander Barboza’s suspension to one match, clearing Palmeiras new signing to make his debut after the World Cup break.

Barboza had initially received a two game ban for a red card on 14 March 2026 while playing for Botafogo against Flamengo.

Referee Anderson Daronco’s report stated the defender denied a clear scoring chance by holding Pedro Guilherme Abreu dos Santos, then confronted the official and insulted him, later waiting near the tunnel to abuse the officiating again in Spanish with vulgar language.

The full bench of the STJD heard a joint appeal from Botafogo and Palmeiras on Friday 3 July and altered the sanction to a single game.

With the punishment now set at one match, Barboza is eligible to face Coritiba on 23 July when the Campeonato Brasileiro resumes.
