The STJD cut Alexander Barboza’s suspension to one match, while upholding Allan’s two-game ban, after hearings on Friday morning.
According to Globo.com, Barboza’s sanction under article 258, which covers sporting ethics, was reduced to a single game already served, clearing him to make his Palmeiras debut against Coritiba on 23 July in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
The incident came while he was at Botafogo, sent off in a derby with Flamengo. He then approached referee Anderson Daronco and insulted him, remarks recorded in the match report. The STJD plenary found the comments were made immediately after the flashpoint and reflected the player’s frustration.
Allan’s case was assessed under article 254 of the CBJD, for violent conduct, and his two-match punishment was maintained.
He was dismissed for a stamp on a Chapecoense player on 31 May, Palmeiras’ final game before the World Cup pause. The defence argued he had not acted recklessly, but the verdict stands, sidelining him for Coritiba then Atlético-MG three days later, both in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
