Sunderland face a pivotal window as they ready for their first European campaign in 50 years, with a squad audit shaping decisions. Director of football Florent Ghisolfi must balance exits, wages and SCR considerations while strengthening for an expanded schedule.

According to Sunderland Echo, Robin Roefs is expected to start as number one, though elite interest means a huge bid could test resolve. Next summer appears a likelier moment to assess his next step.

Melker Ellborg and Simon Moore are set to stay. Anthony Patterson is expected to move on permanently, with a valuation around £8-10 million, though a loan with an option remains possible if bids fall short.

Trai Hume, Nordi Mukiele, Dan Ballard, Luke O’Nien, Omar Alderete and Reinildo are all viewed as core pieces. Timothée Pembélé, Jenson Seelt, Leo Hjelde, Arthur Masuaku and Aji Alese are likely to depart, with loans or value-protecting deals possible amid wage and SCR pressures.

Habib Diarra, Granit Xhaka, Noah Sadiki, Chris Rigg and Enzo Le Fée are expected to remain central to plans. Alan Browne could leave, potentially on loan. Milan Aleksić is close to a season-long loan to Partizan Belgrade with an option to buy for around £1 million, while Abdoullah Ba is likely to go on loan.

Brian Brobbey should begin as first-choice striker. Wilson Isidor is staying for now, though all parties are open to a sale if the deal is right. Eliezer Mayenda looks more likely to go, with his future potentially linked to Isidor’s.
