Corinthians beat Velo Clube 1-0 in Rio Claro on Sunday, and teenage midfielder André Luiz, starting for the fourth time this season, ended the night leading the club’s Paulista charts in four categories.
According to R10 Score, he leads Corinthians in duels won at 30, ground duels won at 27, tackles at 13 and successful dribbles at eight in this Paulista. He completed 90 minutes and went close in the first half, chesting down a corner rebound and shooting first time, only for Marcelo Carné to save.
An academy graduate, he was promoted by Dorival Júnior in September 2025. He has 16 senior appearances, with seven wins, six draws and three defeats, and three goals, including in the season opener, a 3-0 win over Ponte Preta in the Paulista.
His minutes have increased after Maycon’s departure and José Martínez’s delayed return. Rodrigo Garro’s scaphoid surgery on his left wrist has also seen Breno Bidon pushed higher, creating room for the youngster.
In August 2025 he signed a new deal to 2029. The release clause for the domestic market rose from R$ 28 million to R$ 112 million, with the international clause set at 100 million euros.
He could keep his place on Wednesday at 20:00 when Corinthians face Bahia at Vila Belmiro in the first round of the 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro.
