Former Leeds United defender Tom Lees is training with Rotherham and could reunite with Alex Bruce if his trial results in a contract.

"He's one that we're looking at. Obviously, he's an experienced player. I've known Tom for a long time. He's been in a couple of times to do a couple of sessions. We've got to monitor him," he told the Rotherham Advertiser.

"His pedigree speaks for itself. We need to make sure it's right for Tom and make sure he's right for us. We're going to see how that pans out over the next few days."

Lees, 35, spent 2025/26 in League One with Peterborough United before leaving at the end of his deal. He has almost 700 senior appearances since debuting on loan at Accrington Stanley in 2009.

Rotherham will play in League Two next season and confirmed Bruce as head coach last month.

The pair were Leeds teammates during 2011/12, featuring together seven times under Neil Warnock. Lees made 135 appearances for Leeds before joining Sheffield Wednesday in 2014, then spent seven years there and four at Huddersfield Town. Bruce retired in 2022 before roles at Macclesfield Town and Salford City, and this is his first EFL managerial job.
