Pete O’Rourke said on the Inside Track podcast for Football Insider that Graham Potter’s time at West Ham looks bleak so far. Since arriving at the London Stadium in January, Potter has won only six games in all competitions, and that record leaves supporters increasingly restless.

Their latest results deepened the gloom, as West Ham lost four of their opening five Premier League matches this season. O’Rourke said the board is not actively pushing for change yet, but he stressed results will decide Potter’s fate, especially with tough fixtures ahead.

The upcoming clash with Crystal Palace feels pivotal because after that, they face Everton away, Arsenal away, and then Brentford following the international break. O’Rourke said that if results don’t improve and the club drifts closer to the relegation zone, the hierarchy may have no choice but to act.

Behind the scenes, officials are already sounding out replacements, and although the board still publicly stands by the former Brighton manager, patience thins with every defeat. The question now is whether Potter can deliver results quickly enough to buy more time.

What did he say?

“His record at the London Stadium since arriving in January is underwhelming to say the least, with six wins in all competitions.”

“He needs wins and needs results to ease the pressure on him as well.”

“If he survives after the Palace game, you’ve got Everton away, Arsenal away and then the international break and then a game with Brentford.”

“The fixtures aren’t getting any easier in the next few games, with two really tough games at Everton and Arsenal before the break.”

“There isn’t any desire from the West Ham board to sack Potter right now; they’re keeping their faith behind the former Brighton manager, but results will dictate where things go.”

“If West Ham find themselves marooned in the relegation zone, then the club might have to make a decision.”

Should West Ham persist with Potter or make the change?

It is hard to ignore how badly the campaign has started, yet sacking a manager after just five games is not straightforward. Potter’s record since January is undeniably poor, but many recall how he developed young players and encouraged attractive football at Brighton.

That reputation carries weight, and some argue he deserves more than a handful of matches to shape a squad still built in David Moyes’ image. West Ham have a history of patience, and Moyes himself survived early struggles before leading the club to notable success, so the temptation to allow Potter more time is understandable.

Still, results matter most, and the club cannot gamble with Premier League survival. Names such as Nuno Espirito Santo, Slaven Bilic, and Gary O’Neil are already in the frame, and intriguingly, there are reports asking whether West Ham will go for Frank Lampard, adding another twist to the speculation. Furthermore, reports claim Nuno Espirito Santo wants to coach West Ham, showing that credible alternatives are already circling. The board must weigh whether any of these figures could make an instant impact, while supporters debate whether loyalty or urgency should take precedence. For now, Potter remains in the dugout, but every match feels like it could decide his future.
