Nearly three weeks after Club América’s Apertura 2025 elimination, there have been no official arrivals or departures.

According to Americayya.net, the hierarchy typically act once the team reports to Coapa for pre-season, expected this weekend, but a separate issue is holding up signings.

They have been unable to sell players who are no longer in the coaching staff’s plans. Néstor Araujo, Igor Lichnovsky, Víctor Dávila, Rodrigo Aguirre and Javairo Dilrosun, among others, remain under contract with years left on their deals, and offloading them while recovering the investment has proved difficult.

Approaches to Coapa have largely been loans, with clubs unwilling to meet valuations or take on the high wages attached to these players.

Compounding matters, América exceed Liga MX limits on non-homegrown players. Only nine can be registered, and the squad currently has 10.

There will be no signings until at least two foreign slots are freed, a process that does not look straightforward.
