FC Bayern are keeping several options open in the ongoing contract poker with Dayot Upamecano – and have now apparently set their sights on a promising talent from France.

According to information from FootMercato, the Munich club have enquired about Tylel Tati from FC Nantes. Despite his age, the 17-year-old left-footer is already one of the Ligue 1 club’s regular players.

Tati has played 11 competitive matches and 966 minutes. He has yet to score or provide an assist, but that’s not the point with the centre-back: he impresses with his calmness on the ball, high level of intelligence and strong build-up play. He also brings pace and anticipation – qualities that are particularly in demand in Kompany’s system.

However, Nantes have clear ideas: the French club are demanding at least 50 million euros for Tati. A transfer in January has been ruled out. The French U18 international should first complete his first professional season before discussing the next step.

Would Tylel Tati be one for FC Bayern?

Upamecano’s future at Bayern is still open, with the club and player yet to reach an agreement on an extension to his contract, which expires in the summer. At the same time, it is expected internally that the market for central defenders could move strongly next summer. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are therefore exploring potential candidates at an early stage – both in the event of Upamecano’s departure and in terms of long-term squad planning.

Tati would probably be more of an investment in the future. A transfer in the summer of 2026 would fit in with the strategy of developing top talent alongside established professionals. According to Transfermarkt.de, the youngster’s market value is currently around €6 million, but Nantes already see him as a potential future top defender and have set the price threshold accordingly high. However, such a high price for a very young talent with little experience could act as a deterrent for Bayern.
