Mission accomplished: Chivas Femenil maintained its perfect run at Estadio AKRON tonight by defeating Mazatlán 1–0 on Matchday 15 of the Clausura 2026. The Rojiblancas reached 31 points in the standings and increased the pressure in the race for a top-four finish, with a game still in hand.
There was no margin for error for Antonio Contreras’ side following their last result against Tijuana. With some changes in the starting lineup to explore tactical alternatives and manage player workloads during a three-game week, the Rebaño handled the match well against a Mazatlán side that played cautiously, relying mainly on counterattacks.
Although Alicia Cervantes’ goal sealed the final result, Guadalajara created plenty of chances in the opponent’s box, even coming within inches of another goal on the goal line, only to be denied by Solera’s saves.
The momentum from this victory will carry Chivas Femenil into Sunday, when they visit Tigres at Estadio Universitario at 6:00 PM in a direct clash for the top spots in the table.
The goal
- There’s the ‘Predator’! In the 22nd minute, Alicia Cervantes got behind the defense from a Denise Castro pass, went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and calmly finished with her right foot into the back of the net.
Dangerous chances
- Close to a brace for ‘Licha’! In the 27th minute, Natalia Pérez slipped a pass to Cervantes, who, after setting herself inside the box, was denied by a last-ditch defensive tackle for a corner.
- In stoppage time of the first half (45+2’), Natalia Pérez beat two defenders and fired a right-footed shot straight at the goalkeeper.
- Early in the second half, Casandra appeared at the near post on a corner kick but hit the side netting.
- Natalia nearly scored! In the 55th minute, Cervantes beat her marker down the flank and squared the ball to Pérez, whose first-time shot was saved low by Solera.
- In the 57th minute, Denise Castro drove forward, faced goal, and aimed for the near post, missing by just inches.
