City’s clinical 3-0 win over Manchester United in Saturday’s derby day clash at the Etihad was certainly one to remember.
First half goals from Rebecca Knaak, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Lauren Hemp saw us down the Red Devils and secure three vital points.
And there were plenty of stats and talking points to arise from the fixture…
Is the number of shots Manchester United registered on target.
Whilst it is a team effort to earn a clean sheet, it was Leila Ouahabi, Rebecca Knaak, Jade Rose and Kerstin Casparij helping Ayaka Yamashita keep United at bay.

Before the derby, Marc Skinner’s side had scored the joint-most goals in the league - 19 in eight games.
So to keep their attacking threat nullified shows things are moving in the right direction for Jeglertz’s team.
For a couple of reasons.
First, Knaak scored her third Manchester derby goal in three games - and all three have all been headers!
Second, Saturday’s win was only the third time in United’s 133 WSL games in which they have conceded three in the opening 45 minutes.

Only Chelsea (September 2021 and May 2024) and Arsenal (February 2024) had done so before.
City are the first team in 2025/26 to take points from United when Skinner’s side have played on the road - and their second defeat of the campaign sees them trail City by seven points.

After nine games, which includes eight wins and one loss, our start to the 2025/26 season with 24 points is City’s best since 2017/18 when we accrued 25 in the same period.

That makes it the most impressive beginning for a new City manager, showing Jeglertz is settling into life in the English top-flight very nicely!
Bunny Shaw can’t stop scoring goals.
She’s up to eight involvements (six goals and two assists) in 10 appearances in all competitions.
And her goal and assist in Saturday’s Manchester derby sees Shaw overtake Ella Toone for the most involvements in the derby, with three goals and three assists in total.

The Jamaica international has also moved even closer to becoming our first-ever women’s player to hit 100 goals for the Club.
