It has been officially confirmed that the Zimbabwean Warriors will indeed use a South African stadium as one of their home grounds, after being denied permission by CAF because they do not have a proper ground to host an international match.

Zimbabwe's national team concludes its recent homestand with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rwanda in a Group C clash. The result adds pressure as the squad looks ahead to its final two fixtures against Lesotho and South Africa's Bafana Bafana.

The location for the upcoming match against Bafana Bafana, scheduled for Monday, October 6th, became a point of public speculation. Initial reports suggesting the game would be hosted in Botswana were firmly rejected by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA). The governing body has officially confirmed the match will be played within South Africa itself.

Orlando Pirates Stadium is the chosen venue

Orlando Stadium stands as the intended venue for Zimbabwe's next critical match, a fixture that holds significant weight for Bafana Bafana's qualifying ambitions. This arrangement is part of a broader strategy, with Zimbabwe set to continue utilizing South African grounds as their home base until the renovation of their own National Sports Stadium in Harare is completed.

The history between these two teams adds a layer of context to the upcoming clash. In their first encounter on June 11, 2024, at the Free State Stadium, Bafana Bafana delivered a commanding 3-1 victory. The match was defined by Thapelo Morena's double and a goal from Iqraam Rayners, while Tawanda Chirewa managed a lone consolation goal for Zimbabwe.

For Zimbabwe, however, the remaining matches are now about pride. Their campaign has concluded without the reward of progression, having been anchored at the bottom of Group C throughout the qualifiers.
