Romeu Tuma Júnior, president of Corinthians’ Deliberative Council, has authorised the restart of internal investigations by the Justice and Ethics commissions into former presidents Andrés Sanchez, Duílio Monteiro Alves and Augusto Melo.
According to Globo.com, the administrative cases had been paused since Monday after Tuma ordered a temporary halt to avoid breaching court orders.
Andrés has been charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office over alleged irregular use of a corporate card, and a court has barred him from contacting Corinthians officials. There are no such restrictions for Duílio or Augusto.
Tuma said the pause was a precaution until the scope of any restrictions on those under investigation was clear. On Friday morning he accessed a civil inquiry into a potential judicial intervention at the club, which he said offered a clearer view of the legal and institutional context.
He noted that the courts have not yet ruled on the club’s request to proceed with the internal cases, but said information from the inquiry reduced earlier uncertainties and allowed the Council to act with greater institutional confidence.
The Ethics Commission has been cleared to advance the case involving Andrés, while the Justice Commission will continue inquiries into Duílio and Augusto. In the same order, Tuma again pressed the executive board to provide the Council with updates on ongoing criminal cases.
