Daniel Farke has kept open the possibility of recruiting a left-sided full-back if the right deal appears, following Jack Harrison’s loan exit.
According to Leeds Live, while Leeds continue to prioritise attackers, Harrison’s move to Fiorentina has left them light on left-footed wing-back options, prompting a rethink of a role not previously targeted.
Gabriel Gudmundsson has been key but is a slight doubt for Monday’s match against Everton after an adductor issue from last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fulham. Farke hopes he will be fit, while assessing cover on that flank.
He concedes there is no other natural left-footed wing-back in the squad and says Leeds would act if a perfect option emerged. He also cites James Justin, comfortable on the left despite being right footed, and Sam Byram, who has played there.
Farke adds that a more attack-minded player could fill in, as seen with Willy Gnonto on the right in the FA Cup and late on against Fulham.
Meanwhile, Facundo Buonanotte has arrived, a player Leeds missed in the final week of the summer window when Chelsea stepped in. Farke is pleased with the signing but will not rush him, noting his limited recent game time.
Leeds believe in Buonanotte’s ability and potential and will provide the backing to reach top fitness, after which progress will be up to him.
