According to Fabrizio Romano, Elliot Anderson is edging towards a move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City, with only final details to be resolved after a direct meeting between the clubs on Wednesday.

Forest have already rejected two bids as they push for a British record fee for the midfielder, and it appears an agreement is not far away.

The latest talks were held to advance the deal and City are said to believe they can complete it once the remaining points are settled, with optimism a conclusion could come soon.

City’s second offer was reportedly £106m up front plus £15m in add-ons. Forest are said to want closer to £130m, which would surpass the £125m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak 12 months ago.

City have tracked the 23-year-old for some time and made him a priority target this summer. For Forest, it would make sense for any sale to be completed in July so it falls into their 2026/27 accounts, as they are thought not to be in a forced-sale position.

Anderson is currently with the Three Lions at the World Cup. He started the first two group matches and remains an important figure for manager Thomas Tuchel, who has said he is content for transfers to proceed during the tournament, though not on the eve of a game, and that medicals could be carried out in the US.
