In recent weeks, the Barcelona transfer news has been dominated by speculation surrounding Harry Kane, with the Bayern Munich striker attracting attention after reports linked him with a possible move to Camp Nou.
As a result, the Harry Kane Barcelona rumours have sparked debate in England, where former players believe the striker could benefit from playing in a league that offers greater global recognition for his achievements.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville and ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen have both discussed the possibility, with each offering their own perspective on Kane’s future.
The aforementioned story has gained traction after Gary Neville admitted he could understand why the Catalan giants would consider pursuing the England captain.
Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Neville explained that top clubs are always attracted to players capable of delivering consistency at the highest level.
Discussing the speculation, Neville said, “I understand why Barcelona might want him.

“I can understand why any club in the world aspiring to win top-level trophies would want him in their ranks.”
The former England international also emphasised Kane’s importance as one of the game’s most dependable goalscorers.
“Kane is reliable, and in football – as in life – you want reliability. You want players who you know will live up to your expectations.
“He does that, and he does it at the very highest level. He’s an undisputed goalscorer and a key player for any team which, like Barça, aspires to win it all,” he said.
With just one year remaining on his contract at Bayern Munich, the Harry Kane transfer speculation is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
While Neville focused on Barcelona’s interest, Michael Owen shifted attention towards Kane’s decision to join Bayern Munich in the first place.

The former Ballon d’Or winner believes the Bundesliga does not provide the platform needed for a player widely considered one of England’s greatest-ever forwards.
He argued that domestic success with Bayern Munich does not necessarily elevate Kane’s legacy because of the club’s dominance within Germany.
“My only complaint about Harry is his move to Bayern; he deserves better than the Bundesliga.
“Winning Bundesliga titles with Bayern was never going to define his greatness because Bayern almost always win their domestic league.
“If Bayern had won the Champions League, perhaps we’d see it differently, but they haven’t, and Kane needs something more in his career right now,” he stated.
