Yan Diomande's Liverpool snub will hurt for some time.
Most people expected the Ivorian to be one of the first signings that Liverpool made after the World Cup.
And, even though it felt like his transfer to L4 was guaranteed, he's ended up choosing to join Paris Saint-Germain instead.
This has now made fans think whether Diomande and his agents were just using the Reds to get a better deal from the Champions League winners all along.
Whatever the case, it's done now and Liverpool need to move on.
Many other potential options have emerged for Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola but, of them all, there's one that particularly stands out as an ideal candidate for them to pursue.
Bradley Barcola is another attacker who has been linked with a Liverpool switch over the last couple of months.
The Frenchman was even linked with a move last summer but, since PSG wanted to keep hold of him, he stayed put.
Much like Diomande, he's a natural left-winger but, with how often Luis Enrique interchanges his attackers, it's clear that Barcola is able to play anywhere across the front three if needed to do so.
Hugo Ekitike has already sung his praises in the past as he's dubbed his fellow countryman a 'crazy fast' player and, after the season Liverpool have had, adding speed to their attack is going to be essential.
Alexander Isak and Ekitike need players who can provide for them and, since Barcola assisted his teammates on seven occasions during the 2025-26 season, he's clearly able to do that.
Obviously, the 23-year-old would cost a lot of money to bring through the Anfield doors but, since Hughes was already being quoted around £116 million for Diomande, there isn't going to be much difference between the two of them.
After spending over £450 million last summer, fans expected Liverpool to have the best team in the world.
Isak and Florian Wirtz were expected to be the new era of the Reds' attack but, in reality, they actually made things worse.
Of course, injuries didn't help matters much either but, even when fit, they didn't perform to the standards expected of them.
But, before the season kicked off many teams, fans and even journalists feared what Liverpool were about to do.
However, since nothing went to plan they're now just seen as another English team with tonnes of money to spend.
Despite this, if they sign Barcola and upgrade the other areas of their team that need upgrading such as their right-back and central midfielders, they could easily become one of the best teams in the world just based off of quality alone.
Here's hoping that change is coming and, if Liverpool do sign an attacker that it'll be Barcola.
